NYPD Pizza was established in 1996 out of necessity when native New Yorker Paul Russo was unable to find authentic New York style pizza after moving to Orlando, Florida.

The first NYPD Pizza location opened its doors in the heart of the city and proved his theory to be correct. The residents yearned for the same top quality pizza he was accustomed to. This Downtown Orlando pizzeria took the city by storm and won countless awards year after year in the local media. It was also rated by the prestigious Zagat magazine and was continuously praised by the community as being the best pizza Orlando had to offer.

Not long after the downtown location was thriving, the demand became apparent for another location to soon open in another part of Orlando, which it did.

With high demands for this authentic New York style pizza and customer service excellence, founder Paul Russo, with input from his father Mariano Russo decided to start the Franchisee Division in 2004.
